Football in Slovenia

Football in Slovenia is governed by the Football Association of Slovenia (Nogometna zveza Slovenije). Slovenia is participating in the international football as an independent nation since 1991, when the country gained independence from SFR Yugoslavia. Slovenia national football team has qualified for three major tournaments (UEFA Euro 2000, 2002 FIFA World Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup).

Football in Scottland

The Scottish football league system is a series of generally unconnected leagues for Scottish football clubs. The Scottish system is more complicated than many other national league systems, consisting of two completely separate systems of leagues and clubs, senior football and junior football. The two systems have nothing to do with the ages of the players involved.

In senior football in Scotland there is one national league, the Scottish Professional Football League (which has four divisions). There are also several regional leagues (most notably the Highland Football League), but there is no regular promotion or relegation between the regional leagues and the national league.
Rangers are the current record holders with 54 titles. One senior club based in England (Berwick Rangers) plays in the Scottish system in the Scottish League Two. A small number of English amateur clubs in the lowest levels of the game, based on or around theAnglo-Scottish border, also compete in the Scottish system for geographical and travel reasons.
Overall, the structure of football in Scotland is among the most fractured and multi-faceted in Europe, being unique in having a plurality of adult male governing bodies (with Seniors, Juniors, Amateurs and Welfarers - see below). It is not uncommon for a given town or county to have clubs in as many as three or four separate systems. Scottish football is also unusual in the modern era for retaining a non-pyramid league system, and as a result it is near impossible for clubs at the bottom of the system to progress to the top, or for weak clubs to be relegated down the leagues. While discussions about the creation of a pyramid system have existed for many decades, no serious action has ever been taken by the Scottish Football Association (SFA) or the leagues. Gretna's resignation from the Scottish Football League injected new life into this debate, with then SFA chief executive, Gordon Smith, starting discussions with the regional and junior leagues.
On the 7 May 2013 Scottish Premier League clubs unanimously agreed on the introduction of a pyramid structure to Scottish football along with the reintroduction of a single governing body for all 42 senior clubs, a revised financial distribution model, and the possibility of a promotion/relegation play-off between the top two divisions.

Football in Romania

The Romanian football league system refers to the system in Romanian club football that consists of several football leagues bound together hierarchically by promotion and relegation.

Liga I

The Liga I is the highest level in the Romanian football league system and is operated by the Romanian Professional Football League . 18 professional teams compete for the title of Romanian Football Champion in a round-robin home and away 34 game season. The teams ranked 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th at the end of the season are automatically relegated to Liga II.

Liga II

The Liga II is the second highest level in the Romanian football league system and is operated by the Romanian Football Federation. 30 teams in 2 regional groups of 15 teams each (Liga II: Seria 1, Liga II: Seria 2) compete in a round-robin home and away 30 game season. The champion and the runner-up are automatically promoted to the Liga I. The five bottom teams (10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th places) at the end of the season are automatically relegated to the Liga III.

Liga III

The Liga III is the third highest level in the Romanian football league system and is operated by the Romanian Football Federation. 78 teams in 6 regional groups of 13 teams each compete in a round-robin home and away 26 game season. The champion of each regional division is automatically promoted to the Liga II. The bottom five teams (10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th places) at the end of the season are automatically relegated to the Liga IV. Another three teams from the 9th placed teams from each regional division are relegated. To determine these teams, separate standings are computed, using only the games played against clubs ranked 1st through 8th.[2]

Liga IV and lower

Below Liga III the football leagues are managed by the 42 county football associations, including Bucharest. Clubs finishing the season at or near the top of their division may be eligible for promotion to a higher division. Similarly, clubs finishing at or near the bottom of their division may be relegated to a lower division. Liga IV has 42 county leagues as well as Liga V. Liga VI has only 8 county leagues each one representing these counties: Arad, Brăila, Bucharest, Dâmboviţa, Ialomiţa, Mureş, Prahova and Teleorman.
